I love how colour can be built up and blended from its constituents using a palette knife and large soft brushes. I often start a piece working in acrylics and a lot of water to give a soft primary layer. I then work over this, mainly with oils, as I find they enable me to create depth and levels of colour, with constant blending and mixing of the paint to produce the hue and texture needed.
